How to Enable or Disable Manual Approval for Properties

4566 views 1

As an administrator, you can choose if properties submitted from the front end should be published automatically or reviewed manually before they appear on the website.

This setting is useful when you allow users, agents, agencies, or developers to submit listings from the front-end dashboard and you want to control whether those listings go live immediately or wait for admin approval.

Important: This option applies to front-end submitted properties. If admin approval is enabled, new submitted properties and property edits must be reviewed by the administrator before they are published.

Where to find the approval setting

Go to:

Theme Options > Submission & Membership > Property Submission Page

Find the option:

Submitted listings should be approved by admin?

What happens when the option is set to Yes

If Yes is selected, properties submitted from the front end will not be published automatically.

The listing will be saved with a pending status, and the administrator must review and publish it manually from the WordPress dashboard.

Use Yes if:

  • You want to review every listing before it appears on the website.
  • You want to check the property description, images, price, location, or contact details before publishing.
  • You want to prevent incomplete, incorrect, duplicate, or spam listings from appearing publicly.
  • You also want edits made from the front end to wait for admin approval.
Important: When this option is set to Yes, property edits submitted from the front-end dashboard also require admin approval before the updated property is published again.

What happens when the option is set to No

If No is selected, properties submitted from the front end will be published automatically.

The listing becomes visible on the website without waiting for admin review.

Use No if:

  • You want submitted listings to appear immediately.
  • You trust the users who can submit properties.
  • You use paid submission or membership packages and want listings to be published after the payment/submission flow is completed.
  • You do not want to manually approve every new property or edit.

Recommended setting when payments are enabled

If payment is enabled, it is recommended to set:

Submitted listings should be approved by admin? – No

This allows properties to be published automatically after the user completes the submission or payment flow.

Note: If you still want to review every paid listing before it appears on the website, you can keep this option set to Yes. In that case, the admin must manually approve the listing after submission.

How to approve properties manually

If manual approval is enabled, submitted properties must be reviewed from the WordPress dashboard.

  1. Go to Wp-admin > Properties.
  2. Find the property submitted from the front end.
  3. Open the property and review the information.
  4. Update the property status from pending to published.
  5. Save or update the property.

After the property is published, it will become visible on the front end, depending on your theme settings, property status, and cache.

Important notes

  • This option controls front-end submitted listings.
  • If set to Yes, new submissions and edits require admin approval.
  • If set to No, front-end submitted properties are published automatically.
  • If you use paid submission or membership submission, automatic publishing is usually recommended for a smoother user experience.
  • If listings do not appear immediately after approval, clear WPResidence cache, plugin cache, server cache, or CDN cache if active.
  • Email notifications related to new submissions and approvals can be managed from Theme Options > Email Management.
