Google Maps Zoom on Advanced Search Results, Properties List, and Taxonomy Pages
This article applies to the map shown on the following pages:
- Advanced Search Results page map
- Properties List custom template map
- Property taxonomy page map, such as category, action, city, area, or county/state archive pages
When Google Maps is used as the header option on these pages, the map pins and the properties displayed in the list are connected.
This means the map is designed to show the pins that belong to the properties displayed on that page.
How the Map Zoom Works
For these pages, the map zoom is controlled automatically.
The theme adjusts the map zoom so all available pins from the property list can fit inside the visible map area.
Because of this behavior, the manual Google Maps zoom value set in Theme Options or in the individual page settings will not be used for these page types.
Important: This is expected behavior. The map zoom is automatically calculated because the map and property list must stay in sync.
Why Manual Zoom Is Not Applied
If a fixed zoom value were used, some property pins could appear outside the visible map area.
To avoid this, the theme automatically changes the zoom level based on the number of pins and their locations.
For example:
- If the listed properties are close to each other, the map may zoom in.
- If the listed properties are spread across different areas, the map may zoom out.
When the Manual Zoom Setting Can Be Used
The manual Google Maps zoom setting is useful for map areas that are not controlled by the property list sync behavior, and when using Hero Media as Maps .

On Advanced Search Results pages, Properties List custom template pages, and taxonomy pages with map pins linked to the property list, the automatic zoom has priority.
Final Note
If you are using one of the page types listed above and the map zoom changes automatically, this is not an error. It happens because the theme is trying to display all property pins from the list inside the map view.
