What is the Advanced Search Results – Half Map layout
The Advanced Search Results – Half Map layout displays a property list and an interactive map on the same page. This layout is designed specifically for search results, allowing visitors to refine their search and immediately see both the updated listing results and the corresponding map pins.
When this layout is enabled, the map and the property list stay synchronized as users:
- change search filters
- navigate through pagination
- interact with the map
The Advanced Search Results – Half Map layout applies only to the Advanced Search Results page
This page cannot be edited with Elementor.
Step 1. Create or verify the Advanced Search Results page
First, make sure that an Advanced Search Results page exists.
Go to Admin → Pages and check if there is a page assigned to the Advanced Search Results template.
If the page does not exist, create a new page and assign it the Advanced Search Results template.
Step 2. Enable Half Map layout for search results
The Half Map layout controls how the Advanced Search Results page is displayed when users submit a search.
- Go to WordPress Dashboard → Theme Options → Search → Advanced Search Results Page.
- Find the option Properties list layout type for advanced search results page.
- Select half map.
- Click Save Changes.
Important: Do not set the Advanced Search Results page as the homepage. This page is used only to display search results after a search is submitted.
Important requirements for Advanced Search Results – Half Map
The Advanced Search Results – Half Map layout requires the page header to be set to Maps.
You can set this in one of the following ways:
- Globally, from Global Header Options
- Per page, by editing the Advanced Search Results page and selecting Google Map from Appearance Options (Custom Header Media Options)
Additional notes:
- The filters used on the Advanced Search Results – Half Map page are synced with the Advanced Search custom fields. Advanced Search Custom Fields setup
- The Half Map layout used on Advanced Search Results does not have independent search fields. It always follows the Advanced Search configuration.
Default order of properties on the Advanced Search Results page
This option controls the default sort order visitors see when the results page loads. Visitors can still change sorting on the frontend if sorting controls are enabled, but this setting defines the initial order.
You can choose from:
- Default (uses WPResidence default ordering, typically featuring Featured Properties first when enabled, then the remaining results)
- Price High to Low
- Price Low to High
- Newest First (based on publish date)
- Oldest First (based on publish date)
- Newest Edited (based on last modified date)
- Oldest Edited (based on last modified date)
- Bedrooms High to Low
- Bedrooms Low to High
- Bathrooms High to Low
- Bathrooms Low to High
Half Map Template options explained (for search results)
The Half Map Template options control how the Advanced Search Results – Half Map page is displayed. These settings affect layout and presentation only.
You can find these options in: Theme Options → Maps → Half Map Template
Show Search (Yes / No)
Controls whether the search form is visible on the Advanced Search Results – Half Map page.
- Yes – displays the search form above the map and list
- No – hides the search form completely
Hiding the search is useful only if visitors are expected to land on this page
with predefined filters already applied.
Select Search Style
Controls the visual layout of the search bar on the Advanced Search Results – Half Map page.
This option affects spacing, alignment, and layout style, but it does not change which fields are used in the search.
Search styles affect layout only.
Search fields and filtering logic are controlled from Advanced Search Form settings
Search Fields per Row
Controls how many search fields are displayed per row in the search bar.
- Use higher values for compact layouts with short labels
- Use lower values for improved readability with longer labels
Map View / List View (default view)
Sets which view is shown by default when the Advanced Search Results – Half Map page loads.
- Map View – the map is the primary focus
- List View – the property list is the primary focus
Map View is usually recommended for location-based searching.
Half Map Layout: Map Position (Left / Right)
Controls whether the map appears on the left or right side of the page.
- Left – map on the left, list on the right
- Right – map on the right, list on the left
Show Footer when using Half Map Layout (Yes / No)
Enables or disables the footer on the Advanced Search Results – Half Map page.
- Yes – footer is displayed
- No – footer is hidden
If a sticky footer is enabled elsewhere in Theme Options, it may conflict with this setting.
